What careers have strong “brotherhood” atmospheres?
I’m still trying to find a career that I can be happy at. I constantly feel restless in my desk jobs and am looking for something different. I was wondering what types of careers there are that offer a strong brotherhood and where there is action involved (i.e. not just sitting at a desk in an office all day). I’m in my late 20s and I want to find something I can retire in. I want a path where I can finally feel like I’m a part of something more than just a daily grind. Can people tell me a little about what it’s like to work in those types of atmospheres? Where it’s like a family and you depend on each other to get through everything. Likes? Dislikes? Suggestions? I’m thinking along the lines especially of the military, law enforcement, and/or firefighting (do any kinds of paramedics stay/sleep at fire stations too like they did in the show Third Watch?) though I’m also open to any other jobs that people can think of that offer those kinds of lifestyles.

I’m in the army so it’s definitely a family atmosphere but just like any american family it can be dysfunctional like let’s say you have a superior who you don’t like or a roommate or someone you work with on a daily basis it can get quite annoying. But at the end of the day I love my job and love the people even if you to run into some jerks. There is many different jobs in the military alot of physical and every day is different sometimes you’ll be going to the shooting range, road marchs, field training (sleeping in a tent), and can be deployed. Then there is days you are just going to be sitting at a desk or doing nothing. I suggest you talk to a recruiter or anybody you know in the military for advice. It’s a good job but it has it’s bad parts being away from your real family, deploying, weekends and holidays away, but if you have the attitude where you can make the best out of any situation that you can get by in the military.
one of the best brotherhood jobs you can get would probably be the Military, you have to watch out for each other and your unit is like a family. depending on what you do in the military will determine how much action you will see but basically you can have a pretty solid career and use it as a normal career job based on your skills. the military is an economy on its own and needs people of all sorts not just for fighting.
